I was disappointed with the way they used YG footage. Every time and ominous aspect of the Kpop industry was discussed, a YG song or footage from the YG Family concerts would accompany it. It reads as quite damaging to YG's image, especially when YG Entertainment is considered to be a less restrictive company, in terms of contracts and music production (Let us not forget our dear G Dragon). I don't know, I'm just not very pleased with the way BIGBANG, 2NE1 and the rest of YG came across.

This video is all the hallyu kpop wave, and fandoms. But sheez why make it so negative? Why use YG concert and music when talking negative places? ==

I don't like how this "show" is showing korea, everything is "wrong" to the eyes of this show and I'm FURIOUS how they bring to our boys into their wrong point of view
>.<

Wow. Lots of insight into kpop from the industry itself and from Koreans in general. Very interesting stuff.

(Side note: I like how the only MV footage they played are from YG artists: 2NE1, Big Bang, Tablo. And /lots/ of footage from the YG Fam Concert. Me gusta.)

I disagree with your first statement XD These stuff do happen and Rania's agency admits that it does occur, however, they (the tv show) do not imply nor say that EVERYTHING is wrong with kpop. what i got from the show was that kpop is great but it has its dark sides (but still has room to improve) just like any other types of music genre. If there ever is a broadcast that focuses on the negatives of kpop i can probably bet you that there are at least one of those for rock, country, instrumental, electronic, techno, hip hop, r&b, etc. but yes i agree they shouldnt have used the yg clips for their negative points of kpop T~T hopefully (they will) bigbang will prove the music critic wrong about taking over the us muahahahhahah

While there are some things that i agreed with in this show, i really don't like the way the whole K-Pop industry is portrayed. Pop music and pop artists/groups are generally more popular (not only in Korea but other countries as well) because the music is easy-listening compared to other genres for majority people... I don't get why did they make kpop sound so negative >___>

And it seems like this video is focusing a lot on Rania....

i agree. in terms of contracts and artist treatment, yg is the least of anyone's problems. it's probably why they weren't discussed, but the implications made by their images being used are damaging.

the only thing i dont like on this video is that they only interview one agency(which is Rania's agency) they havent show the real agencies whos responsible in bringing kpop into the world..im not sayin it should be yg but they should atleast ask bigger agencies so that viewers will have a hint why kpop are this big..the funny thing is that when contract breach issues vids shows were from YG i know they were just vids but viewers who dont know about agencies in korea(foreign viewers) might think yg artists involved in this issues..

I agree on pretty much everything that's been said on the program. There is no need to romanticise the hallyu wave. it won't expand much if the music depends too much on idols.
Just what annoyed me was that everytime they mention something bad they showed YG artists videos or music. they are talking about the k-pop in general, they should have shown also other agencys artists.

Arrgg... actually I have nothing big about this but just like you guys, I really annoyed.....they show YG video when talk about problems of K-pop Industry :p
And anyway it's kinda scary that's they said they must practise and practise everyday.== I thought they put YG concert into it cause they'll talk 'bout it. But they put it in just talk 'bout HOW THE K-POP INDUSTRY IS?? and 'bout the BAD side..... p-p-pleaseeeeeeeeeee, They're the best Entertainment in K-pop now and when they talk 'bout the contract between idols and ent. I heard BIGBANG? I was astonished.==

Exactly even though I agree that YG is probably not perfect when it comes to contracts, since their artists do have certain restrictions, I think shows like these should focus on those certain problems & those companies that are the worst so the other can see & learn from those....then maybe out side criticism can make K-Pop & those companies aware in order to change how they work. They should show them how other worldwide companies work & they still have artists for years, cause I think that even artist who have short contracts, few release & more will still want to stay with a companies if they are fair & what their company is doing for them as artists actually working.

Even though I might be biased as a K-Pop lover, I really do think that K-Pop has gotten probably the worst reputation out of all music industries because it is the "the new in thing," it's foreign, essentially only pop, "Americanized," & idol ventured only.... BUT MOSTLY BECAUSE YOUR  ENT. COMPANIES INCORPORATES ALL THAT AN ARTIST WOULD NEED LIKE MUSIC MANAGEMENT, RECORD COMPANIES, MANAGERS, IMAGE CONSULTANT, & ETC. I never hear problems of American artists having with their companies, if only it's usually managers. I personally think how Korean ent. companies work can be good or bad since American artists can have problems with record companies but perfect with other aspects like management, yet Korean  essentially 1 agency means less hassle since the entire company works together to help your needs as artist...the problem is that in Korea a problem with your management means a problem with your whole agency, essentially.
